Ok so we all have acne problems on a daily basis and we have all gone through that stage where acne was one of the problems of growing up. Here is my story!

When I was 18 I broke out like it was no ones business, it got to the point that not even makeup could cover it, and even if I did use Makeup the results wasn’t so flattering. Some days I felt that the makeup I used actually made it stand out more. I become more aware of this complex and it took me a while to figure out what I wanted to do with it, because it got to the point where it was hard for me to leave my house without piling on excessive amounts of foudation and concealer just to cover what I could at that point. To point out it was not cystic acne but it was bad, it hurt everytime I touched my cheek and it took me a while to find the perfect solution.

Here is my Journey to how I got my skin to the way it is today.

Year 2012

In 2012 My skin looked like this as you can see it wasn’t so bad ont he right side but the lleft side was much worse.

Even with makeup it wouldn’t cover up everything that I wanted to cover up it made me more conscious about my face on a daily basis.

This is well when everything started the breakout on my face, also it was on both sides and only on my cheeks luckily. At first it was hard for me to do anything sometimes there were slight pains or stinging feelings but it wasn’t so painful. I tried everything let me tell you, from different brands to even the subscription based brand Proactiv and nothing has worked it only made it worse. It got to the point where I had to see my GP (General Practioner) and see if they can help. After a consultation they provided me with lotion to put on my face, now since it’s been years I can’t really remember the exact one but I think it was Benzoyl Peroxide, it was like a toner in a way that it was clear and at first it really stung my skin but as I kept using it day and night I got used to the sensation.

However common side effects of benzoyl peroxide include:

  • dry and tense skin
  • a burning, itching or stinging sensation
  • some redness and peeling of the skin

I used this for about 3 months and it has hepled tremendously, slowly my skin started to clear up and I was beginning to see that effect.

After using the prescribed medicine slowly it got better. As you can see even the makeup was able to cover up most of the acne.

Along with the prescribed lotion I also changed my routine I searched the best products to use for acne prone skin and I found that Tea Tree products were the best recommended ones.

The ones I used were:

tea-tree-skin-clearing-foaming-cleanser-the-body-shopThis is what I use in the morning, The foaming cleanser is perfect for daily use as it is soft to the face, as it is infused with tea tree oil, it cleanses and purifies, without over drying, leaving your skin feeling fresh and matte, helps to reduce oiliness and shine.

After I use:

The mattifying lotion can easily be absorbed into the skin provides hydration, without clogging the pores or leaving skin feeling greasy.

So for my night time routine I used to use this Neutrogena Visibly Clear (Pink Grapefruit) Gel Wash giving me a fresh clean feel for the night. The effects for this wash is that it cleanses deep into the poors allowing the elimination of spots and blackheads.

After the wash I use:

The night lotion is a must, a gel-lotion texture that provides light hydration for blemished skin throughout the night, while controlling excess oil and sebum. the lotionhelps to keep blemished skin under control and help fade the appearance of blemishes. I can say that this lotion actually really helps and I can tell that my blemishes has faded drastically after using it for at least 6 months.

The one product that I use day and night after cleansing is:

The toner removes any traces of leftover make-up and impurities, which can clog the pores. With shake-to-activate mattifying powders, the toner helps to minimise the appearance of pores and can leave your skin feeling clean, toned, refreshed and visibly clearer. With this toner you would have to shake it everytime before you use it due to the fact that you would need to activate the mattifying powder that is lying at the bottom of the bottle. I use this everytime I have cleansed my face day and night.

Now that my skin is significantly clearer and I have stopped breaking out like crazy, I have chnaged my routine to see if the change will have any affect on my skin. and I can say that after the change my skin is still clear, well clearer than what it used to be. Now my routine is

Ok so a scrub on a daily basis is not always the best for your skin but this one I swear by it doesn’t hurt your face, I actually feel that it moisturises it after using. It gently purifies the skin without overdrying.

After that I use:

After cleansing int he morning I use the Aveeno Daily Moisturising Creamy Oil, however I can’t find the one that I actually have on the websites but this product is the closest one to the product I use. The one I use is the creamy oil with sweet almond oil, it helps ot combat dry skin.

Instead of using this at night I moved to my morning routine and I use it during that time. Through this change I felt that my skin is smoother and less dry.

I end with the Boots brand Time Delay Anti-Aging daily serum. I mean you are never too young to start taking care of your skin and I also swear by this product that it keeps your face smooth like a baby’s bottom. Loving this product.

Well that’s my whole story and what I use to combat my acne problem. It’s definitely not all better I mean I still get one or two pimples every once in a while, but other than that my face is somewhat normal.

Now my skin looks like this:

I hope this story helps, the solution may not help everyone as everybody’s skin is different I just wanted to share how I treated my acne.
